Sustainable

Picuris is experienced in sustainable construction and has completed large-scale leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects that have been certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. Our projects have received Gold, Silver, and LEED Certified ratings, and have involved a range of sustainable components that include:

  • Rooftop photovoltaic solar panels as part of the base building's energy requirements that supplies the building with renewable clean energy
  • Green open roof gardens to reduce the urban radiant heat island effect
  • Conservation of storm water that preserves water supply
  • Black water retention system that collect, treat, and reuse waste water for non-potable uses.
  • Advanced fresh air in-take and filtration systems distribute throughout the building's HVAC.
  • Seal and test apartment units to prevent migrating odors to adjacent areas
  • Utilization of energy-efficient appliances
  • Sustainable building materials containing recycled content.
  • Utilizing renewable wood products for cabinetry, flooring, and underlayment certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
  • Low volatile organic compound (voc) content in adhesives, sealants, paints and coatings reducing toxins released into the environment.
  • Engineered wood products with no added urea formaldehyde resins
  • Material purchasing within a 500-mile radius to reduce environmental emissions
